Let's explore La Lande - The Moor in English
The Moor, or moorland, is a type of habitat characterised by low-growing vegetation such as heather. In France it can be found in the North, in Brittany or in the Landes department. It is also a typical landscape of the United Kingdom and is prominently featured in a number of books that I enjoyed a lot: The Hound of the Baskervilles by Arthur Conan Doyle, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë or The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett. It has been depicted at times as being dark and mysterious. Other times, full of light and cheerlful. I love it best when it's personified and is almost a full character in the book.
The colorway of the month is simply called "La Lande". I decided to dye the sunny and cheerful version of the Moor, full of vibrant colours. Pinks and greens of the heather, ochres and browns of earth and paths. And lots of speckles too! The result has subtle fall vibes - not on purpose, but I'm loving it!
It's companion colorway is called "Sentier", "path" in English. It's a beautiful ochre with lots of speckles. It'll make for a lovely knitting experience, with tiny dots of colour here and there, that will melt into the base colour once your project is done. The colorway will behave like a semi-solid.
The Pinterest moodboard is gorgeous and will have you put on your walking shoes and go outside for a stroll.
Preorders are open in the shop for both colorways. Dyeing turnaround is 4 weeks tops. Also in the shop today, the 3-month subscription for April, May and June for the Almanac main and companion/contrasting colorways. Shipping for these will start mid-June.
Also, I might have cast on AGAIN, this time for the Twenty-Four Birds Mystery KAL by Helen Stewart. I started with La Lande as colour A. Sentier will be colour B and Oolong Châtaigne Colour C. Not decided yet about Colour D. Are you knitting it?
Yep. I know, I'm really naughty with all the cast-ons lately. No rhyme or reason to it, really. But I'll go with the flow and enjoy that project while the itch to knit lasts. And then I'll pick up another WIP. And one day, maybe a year from now, or 5 or 10, I'll have a gorgeous pie shawl!!
I'm sharing the new colorways in S7Ep9 of my podcast here.
Preorders are available in the shop!
